Rocky Mountain Power (PacifiCorp) has been serving the Cedar City area for more than three decades with quality power and transmission services that greatly reduce brown outs and other problems. They bring all of the power, strength and reliability that you expect from a major corporation and yet their local employees are always there to assist when needed. Rocky Mountain Power has been a major partner in Port 15 Utah from the beginning and they are ready to meet with our future customers’ needs.
Along with their substation, 138 kV transmission lines and other improvements, Rocky Mountain power has been building future infrastructure for our area’s growth. Early on, Rocky Mountain Power connected all of Cedar City?s substations so they would have redundant loops to send power from one station to another in case service was interrupted. They also made sure the capacity of each of these substations exceeded current use and ensure that Port 15 Utah?s substation had room to grow, with each tenant.
Continuing their efforts to stay ahead of growth, Rocky Mountain Power is putting in a new high-voltage transmission line that will once again connect all of Cedar City?s substations and current lines. The Red Butte Line is a 345-kilovolt line that will run from Rocky Mountain Power?s most southern regions to Central Utah. Construction has already begun on this project and it is estimated to be up and running by June of 2015.
