Cedar City to Open New Sports Complex
Because of a demand for basketball teams and more space for skills development, a group of local businessmen got together and created new gymnasium for a Southern Utah Hoops program that has been growing for the past two years. ?Terry Tebbs and former UNLV basketball player started Southern Utah Hoops by renting space at various gyms here in Cedar City. ?His program and training continued to grow and it soon became evident that they needed to do something about his need for space. ?He and some local businessmen came up with the idea to build it. ?Here is more on this story.
Cedar City’s North Elementary gets $10,000 for Coding.
North Elementary?in Cedar City is our local S.T.E.A.M. School. ?This incredible elementary school prides itself on focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math thus its designation of being a?S.T.E.A.M. Utah Shakespeare Festival Recieves $4.9 million in Tax Credit Financing
In order to continue the work on the new Shakespeare Theater in Cedar City, the Utah Shakespeare Festival received $4.9 million in tax credit financing with the help of U.S. Bank and the Community Development Finance Alliance. ?The nearly 64,000 SF theater will be built by utilize more than $25.4 million ?that was raised by the Utah Shakespear theater. ?The construction of this facility has started and should be ready for the start of the 2017 season.
Fred Adams and staff have been working on this expansion idea for more than 16 years. ?Their efforts will bring about a new theater that will still have the authenticity of the old theater, only with modern conveniences that will allow the plays to go on under numerous weather and outdoor circumstances.

Southern Utah University Makes Large Jump above West’s Universities
US News World Report just plain gets it about Southern Utah University. ?They have ranked us 58th best school out of all of the universities. ? One of the greatest strengths that propelled SUU into this ranking, was the success of students to enter post graduate studies. ?SUU was noted for is strength in working with students from when they first enter the doors until the students go onto other programs. ?This ranking is up 13 points from last year.
Southern Utah University has provided an incredible workforce?of students who really excel not only in their knowledge, but their ability to put things to a practicle use. ?Many of the companies that have moved to our area are impressed with the quality of indivduals that can get from our local pool.

Casino Game Maker, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of their Cedar City, UT office on September 2, 2014. The Cedar City office will be primarily responsible for the engineering and development of Casino Game Maker’s wide range of Class II and Class III land based gaming products including 8 Baccarat Slots. In addition, the Cedar City, UT office will handle some production and light assembly of its current product?line.
One goal of the Cedar City office is to work in conjunction with the local university, Southern Utah University (SUU), drawing from local talent in the areas of graphic design, computer science, mathematics, and engineering. Southern Utah University gets New President
Southern Utah University just inaugurated its 16th Presient. ?This university in Cedar City, Utah is home to more than 8,000 students and President Wyatt talked about moving forward by remembering the past. ? He come to us from Snow College and we look forward to have him lead SUU.
Southern Utah University’s 16th President, Scott L Wyatt, comes to campus from his former post as president of Snow College, where he served for six years.
President Wyatt led Snow in fundraising, growth initiatives and strategic planning, including approval of its first four-year degree program, construction of the Karen H. Huntsman Library, and a new 400-bed student housing complex. His administration raised more money for the College, over the last six years, than has been raised during any comparable time in the College?s history. He also?oversaw the enhancement of the Snow College brand and led the College to a 40% increase in student enrollments over the past five years. He also guided the realignment of Snow?s career and technical education programs to better fit local workforce and economic development needs.?During his tenure, Snow College was consistently ranked in the top 10% of two-year colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute and named sixth in the nation for college completion by CNN Money.
Prior to his appointment as president of Snow College, Wyatt was a partner in the Logan law firm Daines & Wyatt, LLP.
Southwest Applied Technology College gets new Campus in Cedar

Two years in a row, the students of the great state of Utah have earned this nation’s highest ACT scores. ?We have something special here in this state. ?After visiting with some company leaders just yesterday, we learned that they absolutely love their educated workforce. ?Most of them said it is hard to explain the qualities held by their workforce.
