In order to continue the work on the new Shakespeare Theater in Cedar City, the Utah Shakespeare Festival received $4.9 million in tax credit financing with the help of U.S. Bank and the Community Development Finance Alliance. The nearly 64,000 SF theater will be built by utilize more than $25.4 million that was raised by the Utah Shakespear theater. The construction of this facility has started and should be ready for the start of the 2017 season.
Fred Adams and staff have been working on this expansion idea for more than 16 years. Their efforts will bring about a new theater that will still have the authenticity of the old theater, only with modern conveniences that will allow the plays to go on under numerous weather and outdoor circumstances.
